WIP: 1/12 Scale Darth Vader Final

This will be the final WIP post. Things got really busy (it's the weekend and I'm still deleting tables @.@). While the SQL delete is running, here's the last WIP for the 1/12 scale Darth Vader.

Exoskelebuddies

Starting of from where we left off, the arms.

You start with these pieces. A shiny piece for the shoulder armor and the satin finish for the suit. Also the shoulder is undergated.

and you get this. The shoulder has it's own hinge and the connection looks weak, but so far it has not  once popped out of the connection yet.

Then these pieces...

then you get the elbow.

Take the forearm pieces and bicep pieces

and you get these.

then take the all these pieces and piece them together to get an arm.

You now need to assemble the hands. The laser sword holding hand is all toy looking since it's a fist with a hole in it.

Left hand has an extra fist.

Rinse and repeat the other arm and you get this.

putting everything together and we get Darth Vader with no cape... which looks sort of mis-proportioned. Large head and thin arms.

Now for the cape. This kit has excellent nubs, they are small and well hidden. And this is where that praise does not apply since the cape pieces have large nubs at the edges. But 1st, the light saber.

take these pieces. There's actually 2 since the hilt (?) has a stored version with a peg and the actual hand held version with no peg.

Since it comes in all black, you'll need to paint in the silver details. Odd that Bandai does not seem to give you stickers for this. Since I'm not good at painting fine details, I just painted the top silver bit while leaving the bottom half stripes unpainted.

Now the lower robe. Take the two halves of it and clip it unto the clips at the side of Darth's torso and peg the stored beam saber to the side.

And you now have a Darth Vader with no cape.

Now take the 2 cape pieces and push in teeny polycaps...

and plug them in the main cape via the holes.

Grab the entire cape and now plug it into the pegs with the hinges.

and you get Emperor's enforcer, Dark Vader.

*heavy Breathing
Also note that the cape is longer than him... given that it's all plastic, kinda makes him tip forward.

That's why they give you these pieces.

which when completed, looks like this.

So now, he can stand comfortably with fear of tipping over and falling from the shelf. If you're wondering if he's poseable: yes, quite. Playable... no not quite. He looks good in poses... but his cape pieces prevents him from being a nice fun action figure. It's a model kit after all.

I'll probably do a review, but for now, I have a conference call to attend to... on a weekend :((
